Chaosium, (kay-OSS-ee-yum) is known for publishing high quality books & games, and for having a well-developed sense of fun.

In 1975 the company was founded as The Chaosium by Greg Stafford. In 1980 it was incorporated as Chaosium Inc. Chaosium thrives in the mild climate, gorgeous surroundings, and gentle earthquakes of the San Francisco Bay area.

The main office is in Hayward, located about half-way between San Francisco and San Jose. A short walk away is a very good micro-brewery (and one of the oldest!) and Charlie Krank’s home. Charlie is our president and resident BBQ expert. The Chaosium sales, promotion, and propaganda office is located in Silverton, Colorado. No one really understands why that is. Dustin Wright, the fellow who lives and works there, is hard-pressed to explain it himself though sitting at an elevation of 9318 feet, the area holds a curious resemblance to the Plateau of Leng.

Most of Chaosium's product lines are based upon literary sources. H.P. Lovecraft's 1920's horror fiction provides the basis of the classic Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game line which has won so many awards that the we have lost count, though we do know that there are more than 70 of them. Mr. Lovecraft also provides the inspiration for our many Call of Cthulhu Fiction collections.

In 2010, Chaosium celebrated our 35th anniversary and in 2011, Call of Cthulhu its 30th!
